Vesa-Matti Leppanen has not only succeeded Wilma Smith as Concertmaster of the NZSO, he has also become the leader of the string quartet that they co-founded in 2000. With him will be the other original members of the quartet, Andrew Thomson (viola) and Rowan Prior (cello), with Rebecca Struthers joining them as 2nd violinist. They will play Haydn's Quartet in G, Schnittke's 3rd Quartet and Mendelssohn's Opus 13.
